The Letter of Recommendation below is for a coworker/friend seeking employment with another firm.

SUBJECT: A Personal Reference Letter of Recommendation for Mr. Rajat Goel.

Dear Sir,

I feel grateful to be given an opportunity to write a recommendation for an honest,hard-working and goal-oriented person who is a friend of mine - Rajat Goel.

I have known Rajat Goel for past 10 years. In fact we worked as part of a team under on a company project. Working by his side was a great learning experience...he was a great motivation for rest of the team.

He possesses very good leadership skills, as was evident when we worked on the same team. Specifically, he supported and motivated his sub-ordinates whenever they were in trouble, or simply needed assistance.

Rajat's key quality is not loosing his composure, even in difficult times. He is a person with a positive attitude and responsible nature.

At last, I would like to conclude by saying that Rajat can serve any organization he is working for well, and at any position. I am sure he will prove himself as the right candidate for your requirements at the company.

Yours Faithfully,
Nishant Singh

A Good Start
by: The Pen

This sample recommendation letter of reference is missing a couple of things:

1) the writer doesn't say early on what he's referring the subject for; for example, a job, consideration for the award of a project, admission into college, or whatever. You don't really find out until you read the whole thing, which is a mistake.

2)the writer didn't include any contact information. So, if the reader was interested in engaging Mr. Goel and wanted to followup by asking the writer some questions he wouldn't be able to.

Except for these things the letter is fairly well written. However, because of them they it goes from a potential 4-5 star letter to 2-3 stars.
