A Puppy for Your Love

When me and my boyfriend first started dating, I always joked about how we would never become anything “serious” because he didn’t have any pets… and I just couldn’t get too involved with someone that didn’t love animals (preferably dogs) as much as I did.

After about a year of us dating, he started hinting around the fact that he was ready to take the next step… he was leaving around jewelry magazines, renting movies where the guy ends up proposing to the girl, asking me what size ring I wore… little hints here and there that suggested he was about to ask me to marry him.

I would always say things like “my ring size is the size of a Chihuahua’s neck…” or “this movie would have been better if there was a dog involved…”

It was a week before Christmas and I was just getting home from work… there was dinner on the table, candles lit… and a puppy sitting on the couch, with a ring tied to her collar.

Yep, you guessed it… an engagement ring… and a Chihuahua. I said yes (of course!) but the best gift was definitely the dog! We named her Lucy and she’s been my little princess for almost three years now!
