An Actress Turned Receptionist Cover Letter

by Julie Boudreau
(Quebec, Canada)

I have studied and worked in drama since I graduated high school, but I realize being an actress was a little bit too hard, and would never help me pay my bills. After studying 3 years in secretarial services, I applied for receptionists and secretary jobs with the following letter:

*************************************************

Dear Mrs. Reynolds

My name is Julie Boudreau. I found out about an opening as receptionist position in the local newspaper, and I would like to apply for this job, and therefore am sending you my resume.

A personal friend of mine, Melanie Thompson, currently works in the Human Resources department, and told me about all the benefits of working for your company. She encouraged me to apply on your website.

My 3 years of secretarial studies added to 5 years of working as a receptionist in a big company have given me a lot of experience. I have developed strong organizational skills, as well as a great sense of control and time management.

I have experience working with a large team, I have great phone manners, and customer service skills. People usually see me as an outgoing, fun, and serious working person.

I would be available to work immediately and am available for an interview at your convenience. You can reach me at the number enclosed in my resume.

Sincerely,

Julie Boudreau
