First Job

I had been sitting with an elderly couple as a first time job right out of high school. I knew I wanted to be a nurse but needed more references to not only obtain work but get into nursing school as well.

The following letter was a recommendation from the daughter of the couple I was sitting with.


To Whom It May Concern:

I am writing this recommendation for Ms. Susan Stephens to let you know the value she will add to any position you might offer her. She has been in my employ sitting with my parents for the past year. It has not been an easy year but Susan has handled it with a level of compassion and maturity that belies her years.

I deeply believe that she will make a wonderful nurse. She has been as caring, considerate, and dedicated to my parents as if they had been her own. She always arrived on time and was more than willing to stay extra if she was needed. Even during times of stress and uncertainty, Susan was able to provide confident care for my parents.

Susan will be an asset to any company that decides to hire her. I have also encouraged her to attend nursing school because the world needs nurses like her. She is a professional in every aspect of the word, full of compassion and dedicated to her work.
