Graduate School Here She Comes!
(Macomb, IL USA)
This letter of reference is written for an undergraduate student who is applying to a graduate school program. It is actually very similar to a letter I used for one of my students and she was accepted into her program! The Letter of Recommendation Template is a great resource to have when writing letters. As you can see my letter follows it and the format of the example letter by Lanard Perry closely. Anya
Dear College Student Personnel Recruitment Committee:
My name is Anya O’Bryan and as the Chapter Advisor for Beta Sigma Sigma Fraternity, I have had the pleasure of knowing Susan Smith for the past year. She has been a tremendous asset to the Fraternity and her fellow sisters through her Executive Board position as President as well as to the campus and local community. I would like to take this opportunity to recommend Susan for the College Student Personnel Graduate Program.
I feel confident that Susan will be successful in the demands of the CSP program. She is one of a few students chosen to be profiled on the University website. Susan has a lot of experience working with students through her many involvements and I think that her early childhood education major will give her an advantage in understanding student development theory and counseling.
Susan enjoys volunteering and spent two weeks this past summer in Greece teaching children basic English. She was originally going to spend one week in Greece but had the opportunity to go back and help for another week. She volunteered at Abraham School as well as participated in many activities through the Fraternity by helping with the American Cancer Society. She is also a dedicated student and through her own admission has been able to improve her grades and manage her time due to her involvement with campus activities and the Fraternity.
As the Chapter Advisor, I have spent quite a bit of time at the Chapter house dealing with many issues and have noticed Susan’s dedication to her studies. She spent a lot of time in her room preparing for classes as well taking advantage of other opportunities, such as meeting at the library for study hours.
It is for these reasons that I offer high recommendations for Susan. Her drive and abilities will truly be an asset to XYZ University. If you have any questions regarding this recommendation, please do not hesitate to contact me.
