I Don't Like It
To my mind, this is way too long, and does sound like a form letter. Unless this person who lost her mother is a close friend she would not expect this long of a letter of condolence, and if she is a close friend the letter is too impersonal, it could be said about anyone.
The phrase "surely must be one of your most trying times" sounds really insincere, it goes without saying and should just be left out.
All in all, it does sound as if "someone else" wrote it, and I would prefer to struggle through making a personal note than to use this template.
