Notice of Delay on Backorder Form. When you’re unable to fulfill your customer’s order due to a back order, you should follow-up with your

customer regarding the status.

If they have ordered multiple items, you can go ahead and send what you have, but include a note to explain why an item is missing. 

Simply include the item and item number in the letter along with any details about when you expect you should be able to ship it out.
