Resignation Letter Due to the Birth of a Child
After my first child was born, I decided to quit my job and stay home with my child. I resigned and submitted this letter to my supervisor.
Dear Mr. Jones,
As you know, my first baby is due next month. After weighing the pros and cons of continuing to work or staying home to raise my child, I have made a decision. Please be advised that I am resigning from my position as administrative assistant for ABC Inc. My due date is August 4th and I have decided to take the final two weeks of my pregnancy to prepare for this life changing event. Therefore I am giving you a two weeks notice with my last day being July 21st.
This was not an easy decision to make and I have given the matter a lot of thought.
I would like to take the opportunity to thank you for hiring me two years ago to be your administrative assistant. I’ve learned a lot and have gained some valuable experience. I know it will help me in the future when I decide to return to the work force.
Please accept my letter of resignation. I will be happy to assist with training someone else to fill my position. Thank you again for everything.
Cordially,
Jane Smith
