Resignation Letter with Gratitude

The resignation letter below reflects the difficulty of leaving the employ of an organization where a person has worked a long time, enjoys the people he works with and loves the work he does. Still, all good things can come to an end. The following letter is an example of that.


Dear Jack,

After 13 years of incredible personal growth, I find myself at a crossroad in my career faced with life-changing decisions. Only time will tell how well I made them.

With mixed emotions, I tender this letter of resignation along with an expression of sincere gratitude for the many opportunities you have afforded me over the years. During my time with Salmon Enterprises, you have helped me to gain the experience and develop the skills that are now allowing me to pursue opportunities that I never thought were possible.

Along the way, I have developed friendships that will most certainly last a lifetime. I have valued the lessons you have personally taught me, as well as the lessons you allowed me to learn through mistakes and experience. I couldn't have asked for a better mentor during the first parts of my career, and I will forever be in your debt.

I also want to express that I am committed to helping make the transition as seamless as possible for Salmon Enterprises. I look forward to sharing all that I can with the candidate you choose to replace me, and I will do everything within my power to ensure that nothing falls between the cracks. I will also gladly make myself available by phone or email following my departure.

Thank you for everything you have done for me. I am confident that under your continued guidance, Salmon Enterprises will continue to be an industry leader. I am fortunate to have been a part of such a well-respected organization.
