Resignation with the intent of moving upward

After four years of learning a more basic job within the realm of district special education, it is time for me to move on to the next step. I wanted to write a resignation letter that supported our work and our team that also expressed an interest in continuing work with the district in the future.

Dear Mr. Smart;

This letter is to inform you of my intent to resign my position as educational specialist with the Roseville Area School District. I plan for my last day of work to be August 31, 2010.

I have appreciated my time with the district these past four years, and the gains that I have made while being employed with RASD will help me as I continue in my desire to work in special education administration. My hope is that as my career continues to move upward I am able to continue working with RASD.

As you know from my first interview, I was very excited to be a part of the RASD special education team. My intent was to learn from the best, and I feel I did that and much more. I greatly valued every aspect of our team and our students, and trust that these experiences will allow me to achieve ongoing success in helping more and more students meet their academic, social, and emotional needs.

Please know that I am willing and able to support any new education specialists that are hired if it would be helpful to the continuity of the team and program consistency for our students.
