1. Never resign in anger. I supervised an employee who submitted his letter of resignation because he was stressed by his workload, and he didn't have another job lined up. Wow!

2. Never criticize your employer in your resignation letter. Anything less than taking the high road poisons your chances of future employment with that company, as well as with other companies within the same industry.

3. Never quit without giving proper notice. If a future potential employer finds out about you leaving a former employee without notice during the job interview/screening process you can almost bet on the fact that they'll become suddenly disinterested. Why? Because they'll figure that if you can do it to someone else you might do it to them, too.
