Sympathy Letter Sample - Loss Of A Student. In 2007, a very popular member of my high school's football team passed away. He drowned, and our whole community took the loss very hard. At a school assembly we were asked to read a short letter addressing the students about our loss. *************

Dear Students and Faculty,

A week ago we learned about Tyler's untimely death. I am deeply saddened by his passing; Tyler was such a shining example of youth, and it is truly a tragedy we lost him at such a young age.

Tyler was an outstanding student and football player. He always tried his best in everything he did, and accomplished many great things in his time. Although his life was short, I know he never missed a moment of it.

Remember his freshman year, how hard he worked at the library fundraiser? I think he washed more cars than any of us! He was always doing something to improve himself or the community.

That is how we should remember him - in life, not in death. You all have been so strong during this difficult period, and that is exactly how Tyler would want you to be. He was always uplifting to those around him, and his spirit will live on through us.

I know how hard this past week has been. If any of you need to speak with someone about your feelings, I will be available in my office any time you need.

Our school, and our community, will dearly miss Tyler. Lets honor him with our words and actions, and live as he would have lived, to our full potential.
