To My Best Friend

Dear David; You've known me for 6 years and we've been through some interesting times together. I don't know how we've lasted this long - aren't relationships supposed to be rocky and drama filled. Aren't people supposed to grow apart and eventually hate each other being together this long?
I guess it didn't happen in this case. We both shared the pleasure of watching each other grow and seeing each other through tough times. You watched me as I struggled to live in a new city and succeeded and I watched you fall apart when your parent's divorced, but at least we were there to pick up the pieces.
We've both watched our interests grow and wane. We've both been introduced to each others friends and loved it. Of course we've had our fights and our arguments, but who doesn't. Besides I love arguing with you.
It's hard for me to really say what I've wanted to say, but, I feel that you understand me. We connect on a different level where we don't have to finish each others words because we know what each other was thinking in the first place so that words become unnecessary.
There's a title to a film called "I've Loved You For So Long". And I have, I love you David.
